Third year of polytechnic is the last year of your diploma, and the year everyone asks the same question: what next? A job, an apprenticeship, or lateral entry into B.Tech. All three are good. The wrong move is not choosing.
This post is a final year diploma career guide: options after diploma, how to get a job after polytechnic, how to use your last internship well, and how Excelrs helps third-year diploma students.
Options after diploma
| Option | Good fit when | What to prepare |
|---|---|---|
| Job in your branch | You want to earn soon | Practical skills, a short resume, interview basics |
| Software or IT job | You have built real projects | Python, a project, a public profile |
| Apprenticeship | You want paid on-the-job training | Branch skills, documents ready |
| Lateral entry to B.Tech | You want a degree, entering second year | Entrance prep, a strong diploma score |
You can plan for a job and lateral entry at the same time. Many students do both and choose when results come.
After a diploma, the students who move fastest are the ones who can show one thing they built.
Getting a job after polytechnic
Students search “jobs after diploma” and “how to get a job after polytechnic.” The honest answer is the same for every branch:
- Show your skill. A project, a practical file, a short video of you doing the work.
- Keep your resume to one page. Name, branch, college, phone, skills you used, projects, internship.
- Apply every week. Through your college, apprenticeship portals, local companies, and online.
- Practise speaking about your work. Two minutes, clearly, in simple English or Hindi.
Diploma holders are hired for practical work. Your job is to make it easy for someone to see that you can do it.
Your final internship
Most diploma programs ask for an internship or industrial training. In third year, make it count.
A good final internship gives you:
- a real project you can describe in an interview
- a certificate with dates and a verify link
- a project report your polytechnic will accept
- a mentor who can speak about your work
If it only gives you a certificate, you lose the most useful part.
How Excelrs helps third-year diploma students
The reference track for third year is the AI Internship for 3rd Year Diploma Students. It runs for 4 months, online, with live and recorded classes and assignments. You learn Python, data cleaning, machine learning basics, an introduction to deep learning, and simple NLP. You finish with an AI project for your resume and a performance-based certificate. Resume and LinkedIn guidance are part of it.
It is open to diploma students from CSE, IT, ECE, and related branches at any technical college.
Students who want a faster, shorter option can also look at the AI Agent Internship, which is open for 6 or 8 weeks.
What else Excelrs offers diploma students:
- an enrollment letter and Excelrs registration number
- a certificate you can verify at excelrs.dev/certificate
- help with the project report your polytechnic asks for
- a public profile and a score on the leaderboard
- a chance to be considered for internships at Lawazia Tech Dumka if you do well
We work with Dumka Polytechnic, and Bhaga Polytechnic batches trained with us in summer 2026. College details are on the campus program page.

Three good roads. Pick one main road and keep one backup.
Working in Dumka, not only in big cities
Many diploma students think they must move to a metro to get a tech job. Not always.
Lawazia Tech runs a software office in Dumka. Students who do well in Excelrs trainings can be considered for internships there, and more than ten engineering graduates from Dumka already work there full time. Students who are moving to Dumka can get help with a hostel, meals, and local transport.
You can see real student work on the profiles page.
Common third-year mistakes
Not choosing between job and lateral entry. Plan both, decide later — but plan.
A final internship with nothing built. Interviewers will ask what you did.
Leaving documents for the last week. Keep marksheets, certificates, and ID ready early.
Applying only through one channel. Use the college, portals, local companies, and referrals.
Underselling your practical skills. That is what diploma holders are hired for.
Your third-year diploma checklist
- One main path picked, one backup.
- A final internship with a project and a verifiable certificate.
- A one-page resume.
- A short explanation of your best project, practised out loud.
- Documents ready.
- Your Excelrs profile updated with all your work.

A resume says what you can do. A project proves it.
Questions final-year diploma students ask
What is the best internship for 3rd-year diploma students? One that ends with a real project and a verifiable certificate. If you are in CSE, IT, or ECE, an AI internship is a strong choice for 2026.
Can diploma students get software jobs? Yes, if they can show real projects. A public profile with verify links helps a lot.
Should I do B.Tech after diploma? If you want a degree and can manage it, lateral entry is a good route. A Python and AI base makes it easier.
Does Excelrs give jobs after the internship? Not automatically. Students who do well can be considered for internships at Lawazia Tech. Your work and your score decide.
