Career guidance for 3rd year engineering students
Third year B.Tech guide: an internship that leads to an offer, a one-page resume, placement preparation, and how Excelrs helps third-year students.

Third year of engineering is the year that decides placements. Companies visit in your fourth year, but they read what you did in your third. Your best internship, your best project, and your first interview practice all belong here.
This post is a third year B.Tech career guide: how to get an internship that leads to an offer, what to put on your resume, how to start placement preparation, and how Excelrs helps third-year students.
What third year is for
Three jobs:
- One serious internship. Real work, a mentor, and something you shipped.
- One project you can defend in an interview. You wrote it, you can explain every file.
- Start placement preparation. Aptitude, DSA, and a resume — every week, not in a final-month rush.
If second year was about picking a direction, third year is about going deep in it.
A third-year internship is not a certificate. It is the first line of your job interview.
What a good third-year internship looks like
Students search “internship for 3rd year engineering students” and “paid internship for B.Tech students.” Before you apply, check four things:
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| You build on a real product or a full project | Interviewers ask “what did you build?” |
| Someone reviews your code | Feedback is the actual learning |
| Dates and work are on the certificate | Your college and recruiters will check |
| Good work leads somewhere | A stipend, an extension, or an offer |
A third-year internship that ends with only a PDF is a missed year.
Your resume in third year
Keep it to one page:
- name, branch, college, year, phone, email, GitHub, profile link
- two projects, each with one line on what it does and one on what you built
- your internship, with dates and what you shipped
- skills you actually used in those projects — not every word you have heard
- hackathons and trainings with a verify link
Recruiters spend under a minute on a fresher resume. Put the strongest link first.
Placement preparation starts now
| Area | Weekly habit |
|---|---|
| Aptitude | Two short timed sets |
| DSA | Three problems, one of them new |
| Core subjects | One topic from your branch, revised |
| Communication | Explain your project out loud in two minutes |
This is the year to also learn what an interview is like. Ask a senior, a mentor, or a placement cell for one mock.
How Excelrs helps third-year students
Third year is where Excelrs connects training to real work.
AI Agent Internship. The AI Agent Internship is open for 6 or 8 weeks. You learn Python, AI agents, and retrieval, submit the work, and the certificate shows your dates. This is the stack companies are hiring for in 2026.
Work on live products. Students who do well move onto real products that Lawazia Tech runs. The Excelrs profiles page shows what they built. Suryadip Sarkar, a third-year student, built bulk item matching and menu-photo parsing for a catalog app, and ad fixes on a rewards app. Om Kumar Choubey built AI question generation for a quiz app and barcode features for a kitchen app.
Interning in Dumka. Eleven third-year students from Dumka Engineering College are interning at Lawazia Tech Dumka right now. More than ten DEC graduates work there full time. You do not have to move to Bangalore or Pune to start a software career.
College paperwork. For college internship submission you get an enrollment letter, a certificate with a verify link, and help with the project report. How it works for a whole batch is on the campus program page.

Three tracks running at the same time. None of them waits for final year.
The leaderboard is your second resume
Every training, internship, and hackathon you finish on Excelrs adds to your profile score. The leaderboard ranks students by that score, and each name opens a profile with real projects and certificates. No login needed to view it.
When we choose students for internships at Lawazia Tech, we start with that board. A high score with real projects is easier to trust than a list of claims.
Common third-year mistakes
Doing an internship only for the certificate. You come out with nothing to talk about.
Starting DSA in the last month. It takes months of small practice.
A resume full of skills you never used. Interviewers ask about each one.
Building alone, never showing anyone. Get a review. That is how you improve fastest.
Thinking a big city is the only way. Real companies exist in smaller towns too. Dumka is one.
Your third-year checklist
- One internship with real work and a mentor.
- One project you can explain file by file.
- A one-page resume with your strongest link first.
- Aptitude and DSA practice every week.
- One mock interview.
- An Excelrs profile with a score from finished work.

Put the link that shows real work at the very top.
Questions third-year students ask
Where can I find an internship as a 3rd-year engineering student in Jharkhand? Start with programs that show past students' projects. Excelrs runs internships online and at the Lawazia Tech office in Dumka.
Is a paid internship better than a stipend internship? A stipend internship is better if you can get one. If you are paying, pay for live mentoring and code review, and ask where strong students go after.
Do I need AI skills to get placed in 2026? Not for every job. But knowing how to build with AI models now helps in web, testing, data, and support roles too.
Will Excelrs hire me after the internship? Not automatically. Strong performers get considered for paid internships and roles at Lawazia Tech. Your score and your projects decide.
Programs you can join
Third year is the year for a longer program with a real project. These are open now.
| Program | Fee | Length | When |
|---|---|---|---|
| AI Agent Internship | ₹1,000 (list ₹2,000) | 6 or 8 weeks | You pick the start date |
| Agentic AI | ₹12,000 | 3 months | Join any time |
| React Js | ₹10,000 | 2 months | Join any time |
| React Native | ₹10,000 | 3 months | Join any time |
| Career Launchpad | ₹10,000 a month | about 2 months | Join any time; strong work can lead to a paid internship at Lawazia Tech |
Free to use: make a profile on the Excelrs leaderboard and collect points from every training, and watch the hackathons page for the next event.
